Rachel Berry: Biggest Glee Loser?

Hello, Fanaticals! Today we are going to look into some theories about the biggest star of New Directions: Rachel Berry. It honestly seems to be a common consensus all-around that Rachel is probably the most hated character in the entire show. Honestly, though, she really DID do some horrible things throughout the series so it's not honestly a surprise that a lot of people are not her biggest fans.
From her constant need to be the frount and center, to her seemingly pathological lying, right down to sending a fellow student to a crack house to erase the competition for the lead. Honestly, the best season for Rachel was when she went to New York even though she messed that all up horrifically because at least she was in a natural place to be able to cater to her need to be in that spotlight.
A heavy theory is that one of the reasons we see such a drastic change in her in Season 2 is due to two very heavy losses: the loss of Regionals, and the loss of Shelby as her mother. It becomes clear in the storyline that Shelby had set up some intricate plan to have Rachel come to her so that she could legally communicate with her, all of which was highly illegal depending on the surrogacy agreement that had been put in place. However, just as the two are getting along and really connecting, she walks in and the two sing a sad duet before Shelby just up and disappears again.
It's most likely that she left Rachel feeling as though she wasn't enough, and I can only imagine how much worse that feeling became when it came out that she had adopted Quinn and Puck's daughter Beth. That adoption of Beth was just a nail in the coffin because, "why aren't I good enough but the infant of my rival is?" Which, without Rachel knowing about Mr. Schue and Shelby's conversation you can't really blame her for feeling this way. Especially when she goes back after Regionals and being rejected AGAIN for her to come back.
Which, losing Regionals in the midst of all of that probably didn't help her emotional mess either. She went and sent Sunshine to a crack house because she couldn't handle not being THE star of Glee Club. Rachel is clearly someone who is used to being the star and getting her way and having the whole club come down on her for the messed up thing that she did, then losing Regionals, and THEN losing her mother that she had just been reunited with… I can kind of see why she went a bit crazy.
Another heavy theory is that she is a pathological liar, or even possibly mentally unstable. This theory mainly stems from the fact that she claims she won her first dance competition at three. Even I, as a dancer of many years, am a bit concerned at the validity of it. There’s other evidence that supports this theory.
Her saying she is okay with Finn and Quinn but then literally trying to be with him at every turn, even flipping out that at the kissing booth he only gives her a kiss on the cheek when he’s lip locking with everyone else. When she sent Sunshine to the crack house, she claimed to her friends that she had done it for them and the club until Finn gets her to admit the true.
It almost feels like justice when she gets scammed in New York and buys tickets for Cats, or when she kissed Finn onstage during Nationals and totally took them out of the competition. While Rachel's life seemed very fairytale like in the way that she was supported and given what she wanted when it came to acting, singing, or dancing, I feel like there is definitely a bit of mental instability there, but we just don't know WHAT.
