Hello, Fanaticals! Apologies for the late post today as it has been a hectic week and my whole house has been sick.
As we close out our week of Charmed, we have one final sister to look into: Phoebe. Is Phoebe the most troublesome Charmed One, or just misunderstood?
Now, when we first meet the sisters Prue has an issue with Phoebe as it is, calling her irresponsible amongst other things. Part of this could be her bitterness in having to deal with the house and Gram’s death mostly by herself, but it seems to feel like it could actually be very true too.
We see Phoebe make choice after choice throughout the series that, most of which, are highly questionable! Even after traveling into her and her sister’s past lives in the 1920s, she still chooses Cole despite all the warnings that she is given about him. To make it even worse, not only does PRUE warn her about him, but so does Paige. They both knew, she just chose to ignore them.
There are also theories that Phoebe was always meant to be the “darker one” of the sisters, with proof of looking at her history as well as her actions. We come to understand early that Pheobe was more the the delinquent of the sisters as it seems she was always in trouble for sneaking out, partying, or possibly even who she was dating. In the first episode, she is the only one exited to be a witch; this could be chalked up to the fact that she seemed to be more of the outsider when the girls were growing up.
We also see her get into a lot more trouble, and some of the things that she should have gotten into trouble for got glossed over a lot due to other things going on at the time. Realistically, she was also more often than not the one who broke the personal gain rules.
Even in the episode where Prue, Phoebe and Piper go into the future after her premonition about being killed, SHE was the one who went after the guy that caused the sentence and you can see in her premonition when Leo comes to visit her in the cell that she had gone dark. While she was the one to convince the other two not to use personal gain to teach the guy a lesson as that’s what had been the tipping point for everything they lived through, no one addressed the fact that she started down a darker path.
We also have to remember that despite all the warnings, she DID go evil during the series when she married Cole and became pregnant with his baby; the one that the Seer stole from her yet she remained on the dark side for a while after that. There are actually fan speculations that when everyone made a huge deal that her becoming the Queen of Darkness of “out of character” for her, it actually really wasn’t.
Now, this can all even tie back to the Power of Three issue as well since she seemed so inclined to the Dark Side that it would actually ruin them being the Charmed Ones who were there to take down all of evil.
However, I will say that the fan theory surrounding her that I love is actually more fact than theory but it seems to be so funny that no one actually realized it, even after Chris accidentally let out his “Uncle Coop!” comment. This theory surrounds the fact that when the sisters went back in time during All Hallows to help make sure Melinda was born, Phoebe went to someone who could tell you the first letter of your true love’s name which turned out to be a C. Now, while she immediately went to Cole, I always found it interesting that this never comes back to her AFTER she meet Coop especially considering that she DOES start to fall in love with him the first time they meet.
One last theory that caught my attention is that Victor may not actually be Phoebe’s father, that her father was Nicholas who posed as Victor and got Patty pregnant. We know that while in the womb, the only two that were discussed as to showing powers were Pheobe and Wyatt. We know that the reasoning for Wyatt is because he was “twice-blessed” being the son of a Charmed One and a White Lighter and is the Heir of Excalibur.
However, if this theory took off as true it could explain why Phoebe has such a penchant for going dark as often as she did. Personally, I can see the truth behind this theory based on those two assumptions alone. The best part about this though, is that there comes a secondary theory that the reason Phoebe did not STAY dark is because she was saved by the Nexus.
This comes from the fact that she was born in the house, just as Wyatt was. So while she could potentially still have her “father’s” dark side in her, the Nexus would have put a protective shield of good around her and her powers. Some will say this theory overall isn’t plausible because Patty and Victor were still together, but if I remember the episode correctly when they went back in time when Patty was pregnant with her Victor actually WAS NOT in the picture which means this is a very possible thing to have happened.
What do you think? Was Phoebe always destined to be dark? Could the fact that she always had this destiny be the reason why the theory that her DAUGHTERS are the real Charmed Ones? Come join our community and tell us your ideas! See you next week but until then, keep on theorizing, Fanaticals!

You are remembering correctly victor was out of the picture right then
