Paige: The Spare Charmed One

Hello, Fanaticals! Today we are going to take a look into Pagie Matthew’s, the youngest of the four and Prue’s “replacement”. There are a lot of repetitive theories about Paige, a lot of which surround that the Elders knew about her, or that she was just a spare Charmed One.

There are even quite a few out there that use her powers as supporting evidence that the Charmed Ones of the prophecy are not the Halliwells, as her powers are more White Lighter centered due to her being half White Lighter from Sam. While she may have telekinesis like Prue, it is actually her White Lighter orbs that move the objects rather than the actual push from her mind. That’s all backed up due to when the blonde trio stole their powers to become the Charmed Ones, Paige proved who she was to Chris because they could not steal her orbing abilities.

Back to Paige’s part in the Halliwells not being the sisters of the prophecy; it is actually stated that Paige was given up IN ORDER for Prue, Phoebe, and Piper to have their great destiny as the Charmed Ones. However, the fact that she was even born could nix that right in the tail anyways or the fact that she was half White Lighter would mean that her existence didn’t matter to the project because she was not pure witch but a hybrid.

There is also the question of if she was only brought in due to Shannon’s exit, as when the episode of Phoebe’s burning happened, the year was 2009 and Prue was still alive. This, however, could also be explained that due to the fact they chose not to use the personal gain and teach the man a lesson, that one small change is what led to Prue’s death and subsequently leading to Paige being brought in.

Another theory, that I actually am on the fence about, is that they ruined the “rarity” behind Paige being a hybrid when they brought in Simon and introduced him as the first Witch/White Lighter hybrid. I honestly feel like they ruined the rarity when Paige was introduced, because we already knew that Piper and Leo were going to have kids which would make THEM the rarity. On the flip side, though, for as long as witches and the White Lighters have been around, I actually expected a handful more. The other question in that mess is, why do the Elders make such a big deal of Sam and Patty and Leo and Piper if there are clearly others out there that are like them? Is Paige really THAT rare, or do the Elders just hide them?

The last theory is that Paige’s powers ALSO somehow got bound when Patty and Penny bound the girls. We know that in extreme situations, there was possibilities that their powers came through the bind to save them which is something that we see when Paige saves herself from the car accident by orbing out of the car when her adoptive parents were killed.
