Charmed Ones: The Power of Four?

Happy Monday, Fanaticals! Today starts our Charmed Week. As I said in our Facbook post yesterday, this week will focus more on the original rather than the reboot, but it will get a mention here or there; most of these theories are solely the Charmed series that follows the Halliwell sisters.

Today's theories are some theories that have been around ever since Season 3, when Paige was first introduced. Now, while a lot of fans know that the introduction of Paige had to do because of Prue's exit as Shannon was not slated to return, of which it later came out due to set drama.

I think no matter what, we can all agree that many fans could not stand the White Lighters and the Elders; especially the Elders. Therefore, it should come as no surprise today that there will definitely be some WL and Elder bashing in these theories. Let's take a look at these.

The Elders Knew About Paige

For all the "all-knowing" that the Elders show, all of their crap and how the girls couldn't even talk out loud with each other about Leo and Piper's "rutabaga", they even take him from her mid-ceremony.

We know that they knew that Patty and Sam were together, considering that they even clipped his wings and the two of them basically never see each other again until his own death when he joins her in the afterlife. So, if the Elders really knew that then you cannot convince me that they didn't know about Paige. Redditors online discuss this fact a lot as well, as there are posts labeled even just this time last year.

Everyone can agree that they knew, and many go back to the old Regency Era theme of "an heir, and a spare". There are even points made about how in the 1920s episode that the "Charmed Ones" of that period were actually cousins, not sisters, who had to take out the one who was the representation of Phoebe. The supposition of repeating circumstances in a family that is descended from Melinda Warren is not really far-fetched.

When the original three were sent back in time on All Hallows and helped make sure Melinda was delivered into the world, they had also had a chance to meet her when they had to call her spirit forth in order to help with her former demonic lover who was the reason she was burned at the stake. While she had Phoebe's power of premonition, she prophesized at her death that three of her descendants would be the most powerful around; there is 300 years between Melinda's death and the time the girls get their powers after the bind that had been placed, and 300 years is a lot of generations.

Now, whether there were many times that there was a "test" of some sort done by the Elders until they actually came TO Prue, Phoebe, and Piper for them to fulfill the prophecy that Melinda gave. Sometimes while going over the book, you will see their ancestors mentioned and it always seems like there is more than three in each generation; "an heir and a spare".

The reason this theory is so popular is because of the fact that she comes along right at the time they were literally burying Prue, meaning not even a month after she dies and suddenly the Elders are approving of her being a part of them? Even MAGIC accepts her in the house that easily. The Elders always knew, and I think that there was always four in every generation that the Charmed Ones had the potential to be in considering that sometimes they were cousins, not sisters.

The Power of Four

Now that we have brought the theory that the Elders always knew about her forward, we can discuss the Power of 4 theory. This theory is that if Paige had been around, the Power of 3 still could have been powerful, they just would have been able to interchange who was there.

Which, when you think about the number of times they had things get interrupted for a P3 emergency.... If Paige had been introduced when they first got their powers back, they could have been unstoppable while still having their own lives. Obviously, there were spells that would be more powerful with 3 since that IS a magically powerful number, but at least it wouldn't have been a struggle.

Now, there are other theories that go alongside with this that we will pick up this week, but they stem primarily from the potential of the Power of 4.

Melinda Warren: Family Ties

There are many out there that point out something I mentioned earlier: there are 300 years between Melinda and the Halliwells. Based on the Book of Shadows, there are clearly different lines that stemmed from Melinda herself. Something that is common that we see in both the original with the Halliwells, and the reboot with the Veras, is Melinda's name is listed in the Book of Shadows that belong to their families.

A few Reddit users actually point out that it seems fairly impossible that if Patty had a secret child with a White Lighter, and Piper had a marriage with her White Lighter, that the possibility of there being other secret or unknown descendants of Melinda Warren is fairly plausible. Each family line probably only keeps track of their own, and especially not illegitimates.

There are even considerations that each individual child only took the time to note down their lineage which is why everything can lead right back to Melinda, but you never see dots connecting to outside relatives.

What do you think? Is there more to the Charmed Ones with the potential Power of Four? Could there be multiple Power of Threes? Come join our community and tell us about your thoughts about these Charmed theories! Join me tomorrow as I take a deeper dive into some of the other theories that stem from the potential Power of Four. Until then, keep on theorizing, Fanaticals!
