The Fate of Neverland: Lost or Dead?

Hello, Fanaticals! Today is a much darker day for Disney. This dives into a couple really dark theories, both of which I had never thought of.

TODAY’S TRIGGER WARNINGS: both theories have discussion of death, and one of potential child death. I know there are a lot of people triggered by that and do not want to catch anyone unawares.

Today, we are going to take a look into Neverland. It seems like such and amazing place, for those who have had nothing to do with the original story and only Disney. I, personally, have not read the original myself but I and very much aware that it has a lot darker themes. Somewhat similar to the 1991 movie Hook with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman as Peter Pan and Hook, respectively.

Neverland was very much a place full of dreams: you could eat literally whatever you wanted, never sleep if you didn’t want to, and best of all is that you would never grow up. Some days, I would love to do that myself: go back to being a kid and never grow up.

However, Neverland may not have been the place of our dreams like Disney taught us to believe. In fact, these theories today fall more in line with the version we see in Once Upon a Time: dark, dreary, and even a somewhat evil feeling. That is where we begin our theories today.

Peter Pan and the Lost Boys

This theory chilled me to the bone when I read about it. It begins with Peter Pan, a lost boy. The theory starts that Peter, himself, at one point was a lost boy but it’s unclear whether it marks him as the FIRST lost boy. However from here, it turns quite a bit dark.

The theory follows that some lost boys began to no longer feel lost. When a lost boy no longer feels lost, they would begin to grow up. So the question is, why is Peter Pan THE lost boy? The theory takes a dark turn that when a “lost boy” is no longer “lost” they begin to grow up. The theory then follows the line that when they grow up, Peter “takes care of them”. This is HIGHLY a suggestive double meaning.

Taking care of someone as they get older could mean just that, obviously; but the chilling dark theory is that “takes care of them” means that in the exact way you would think… Peter Pan would murder the lost boys that began to grow up. It would make sense as clearly Neverland is for lost CHILDREN. However, it is a very dark and disturbing thought that he would willingly murder those that are his friends, and basically the only family he’s got.

The Lost Boys become Pirates

On a lighter note of the previous theory, there is also the theory that Hook and Peter were two of, if not THE TWO, original lost boys. Besides Peter taking Hook’s hand via the crocodile, it would actually make a lot of sense regarding their rivalry: Hook grew up, and Peter stayed a child. Hook found a purpose, while Peter just wanted to be a child.

This would mean that all of the pirates were once lost boys who found a purpose, who began to not feel so “lost” and then grew up but could not leave Neverland. Hook, Smee… they all arrived as lost boys once. Honestly it’s quite plausible as well because for being a place for no one but children, the pirates are definitely adults!

This also puts a lighter spin on the dark question of what happens to the lost boys as it sounds a bit at times like they have changed over the years.

Hook “Knew” Ariel’s Mother

Now, I put “knew” in quotes because the actual theory is that he is the one who killed her.

We see that there are obviously mermaids in Neverland. While it is supposedly supposed to be due to Neverland being like a fairytale world of its own, we don’t know the actual reason why or how they are there.

Now, it IS confirmed that Ariel’s mother was killed by pirates. While we don’t know WHERE she was killed, we just know that it happened. Considering we don’t really know any other pirate, and the presence of mermaids in Neverland it is fairly plausible that this is more fact than theory.

What do you think? Do you prefer one Lost Boys theory over the other? Do you think it’s plausible that Ariel’s mother’s murderer was, in fact, Hook? Join our community and tell us your thoughts! Join me tomorrow as we look into more murder in Disney theories. Until then, keep on theorizing, Fantaicals!
