Descendants, Are We Family?

Hello, Fanaticals! Today marks our very first Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) theory! With the release of The Rise of Red last week, I thought it was a great time to go into some Descendants theories. The first three movies were amazing, and Rise of Red was just as good; while only two of the original cast came back for some minor parts, they did honour Cameron Boyce in a beautiful way that I was not actually prepared for and will admit to trying not to bawl during the moment.
With the return of the series, it resparks everyone's questions about parentage. Very few Villan Kids (or VKs) live in a multi-parent home, so it seems as though most of them came from nowhere. However, the Isle of the Lost is like living in a small town which means there are at least potential parents around.
In the 3rd movie, we are given a SINGLE confirmation when we learn that Mal is not only the daughter of Maleficent, but also the daughter of Hades; which just makes watching Ride of Red even crazier as you see their younger selves in school together and, very clearly, the VK "it" couple. So, let's take a look at a couple of the other VKs to see if we can guess their Descendants family!
Evie
The daughter of the Evil Queen, she has a stepsister in Snow White. While many people will speculate that her blue hair means she is another daughter of Hades, the only thing I could see that might prove that is because we discover that she is the ONLY one who knows that he is Mals' father. This could be due to a mutual confession, or it was a secret that Mal believed she could trust with Evie. Honestly, with Mal having purple hair and we later meet Dizzy who is apparently a hair stylist, I'm less inclined to believe her hair is a clue to her father.
There is another theory, though, that runs somewhat alongside Once Upon a Time; where the face in the mirror was the spirit of a genie, and the Queen wished for a child. How the child came to be, who knows. However, it is somewhat plausible as the only people who can control the mirror are the two of them.
Jay
While he is the son of Jafar, there is apparently a wild theory running around that he is actually the son of Aladdin and Jasmine, who had been spelled to forget their son. This would be a very interesting theory, but I believe that people seem to forget that at the very beginning, Mal states that the Isle was locked down 20 years prior, and she is only 16 herself. This means that any kids born on the Isle, are products OF the Isle.
Finding who potentially is Jay's mother is a bit of a trick as we aren't entirely sure who all are on the Isle, she could have been some unnamed woman that got called a Villian for associating with them or being an assistant. The only confirmed female Villians we know of on the Isle are Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Curella, Ursula (and by extension with Rise of Red, her sister Uliana) and Lady Tramaine. Personally, I don't see any connection with Jay to any of them and it could honestly be his mother is just a lesser known on the Isle.
Carlos
Our dear, beloved Carlos. While, logically, we would say that his father is lighter skinned when you compare him to Cruella, we also have seen what Disney thinks of logic when it comes to genetics; and not just Disney, but they support it as we look at the Charming family. So, when it comes to Carlos, the theories are a bit trickier.
Some say that there is a possibility that his father is Jafar and Jay is his half-brother; this has quite the potential as Jay and Carlos seem to have that special sibling-type bond despite also being villainous and thefty. They really ground each other in a way that really close siblings do, and it's super sweet to see.
There are other theories of Cruella's prior henchman, Horace or Jasper, being his father; but some will also argue that he has a tech villain as a father due to his insane nature at being really good with technology.
Uma
Now, I have a hard theory that came from watching the 3rd movie. When I say hard, though, I think of hard to protest. Mal is told that she can control Hades' Ember but not do everything that he can with it because she is only half-Hades. This would then mean that no one but Mal can make the Ember glow, right? Yet... Uma is also able to make it glow when she holds it, and even uses her own magic from her mother Ursula to help reignite it.
If that's not a hard-core clue, then I don't know what is! However, after seeing Rise of Red, there is also the inclusion of a new male Villian, who in doing some searching turns out to be the son of Morgana le Fey; not a huge surprise when they find out that Auradon Prep is still Merlin Academy at this point, and we know that he and Ursula would clearly know each other through Uliana.
Someone once threw out that she is also the daughter of Dr. Facilier, which would make a bit of sense as she and Celia get along really well too.
While you have to keep in mind that I am only including the four movies, there is also a lot of holes that can get filled with the animated series, and the book series as well. What do you think of those listed, though? Is there a Villian that seems just as likely to be a parent? Who do you think it is?
Come join our community and tell us what you think! Tune in tomorrow for an interesting theory on balance, and it's connection to the 3rd movie. Until then, keep on theorizing, Fanaticals!
