Unraveling the Mystery: Cobra Bubbles and the Pelekai Past

Welcome back, Fanaticals! Today, I want to surf into the world of Lilo and Stitch. I love this series! I love it so much that it has become a talent that I can talk exactly like Stitch, which a lot of people get a kick out of.

One of the biggest mysteries in Lilo and Stitch can be brought back to one person: Cobra Bubbles. Is he an agent? A caseworker? A friend? Cobra becomes a staple in this Hawaiian world, but his origins leave for a lot of theory to be brought to light. The two theories that I bring to you today are intertwined in their own ways and have quite a bit of theoretical proof from the real world to back them up, even if there IS very little known overall about everyone involved. Let's get started!

Cobra did not work for CPS/Family Services

This is a theory of mine that comes from having drawn from observations and insights into the workings of CPS/Family Services. The way that he acts, and how he handles the "case" tells me that he is not actually a case worker. A caseworker normally doesn't give as much time as he does prior to removing a child, that is something that will happen within 24 hours or less; even if it's temporary to give the guardian time to do whatever it is they are requiring. The biggest red flag of this is that when he DOES show up at the end and puts Lilo in his car, he does not have PD with him; when they show up to physically remove children from homes there is always a police presence when in case parents get violent. It's also odd how he doesn't actually show up until after Stitch initially crashes on the island; that is also connected to our second theory of the day, so we will come back around to why I say it's odd.

The biggest question would come down to one thing: why would someone who claims they worked for the CIA downgrade and become a lowly caseworker? Especially considering that when he speaks with the Grand Councilwoman at the end of the first movie, he even states that he was in the CIA at Roswell in 1973; which also explains how he would know that "Aliens are all about rules". Unless you've got a crazy job like poor Peter Burke in White Collar (even though he is FBI), it's highly unlikely you would walk away from a job like that to be a caseworker for Family Services.

It is that question that leads us into the next theory.

Cobra worked with the Pelekais

Honestly, when you think about what we already discussed, going from the CIA to being a Family Services caseworker, it makes you wonder how, and why, he seemed to be super focused on Lilo and Nani. You also have to take into consideration that in order for a caseworker to be involved, someone would have had to call and make a report; based on the interactions of people in town, it doesn't seem very likely that someone called to report anything wrong. Nani had a job up until they adopted Stitch, and it is obvious that Lilo was taken care of since she didn't look dirty or starved. While it can be argued that this is Disney and they don't depict things like that, it raises an even bigger question: if they weren't going to depict Lilo as neglected, then why introduce a character who is a caseworker in the first place? This leads us to another intriguing theory that may shed some light on Cobra's potentially true intentions.

Obviously, very little is known about Lilo and Nani's parents since they died long before the story even begins. However, some fans believe that it's Cobra's presence that unlocks a lot of the secrets we don't know about their parents.

As stated before, it's highly unlikely that Cobra left the CIA to be a caseworker. Which would mean that the real reason he went to "remove her" (which he failed at anyways because she slipped out of the car when he was talking to Nani) was that he was actually watching out for the girls and trying to help. Why? Because they are the daughters of his old coworkers. He might have actually retired from the CIA, and then kept tabs on the girls only to step in when Nani was in dire need of help and someone to stay on top of her to keep things going the way they needed to so that Lilo was not ever truly removed from her by an actual caseworker.

Whether Cobra actually ever decided to leave the CIA and work in a seemly random location as a caseworker, or he just kept an eye on the girls after their parents passing, we will never really know. There are always arguments for both sides, obviously, but these are some sound theories.

I will see you all tomorrow, as we continue to rip our childhoods apart with two theories that completely blew my mind when I first saw them! Until then, come talk to us in the Forums about your opinion on Cobra, and keep thinking up Fantastic Theories!

I fully agree with these ideas and theories! Another brilliant post!
