Pokémon Trainers: Darker Theories of Their Existence

Hello, Fanaticals! Today we are going to look into some theories regarding the Trainers themselves. Keep in mind that while most Pokémon theories are darker in nature, these are some of the darkest ones out there which is why this post has the “Dark Theory” tag despite no official dark warnings.

Ash Never Grows Up

While this is honestly a sad theory, it’s also one of the most popular. This is a very common theory that I have seen all over the internet over the years. However, the reason behind it has been a combination of the unknown, and several different ideas.

One of those ideas is that Ash had an encounter early on in his journey with a Legendary Ho-oh. It’s commonly known that this specific Pokemon can grant wishes and give trainers eternal happiness, and it is believed there was a possibility that since Ash found it so early in his journey he had wished for his Pokemon journey to never end. With this wish, the Ho-oh made him 10 forever so that he wouldn’t have to end it. Ash’s eternal happiness at that time would have been to always be searching for Pokemon.

Another theory is that when Mewtwo turned Ash into stone in the movie, he actually became frozen in time. While a little bit more of a Charmed feeling to it, it’s actually not too far-fetched.

The last theory I found had a lot of comments of “I’m sick of this theory” which is that when Ash crashed his bike in the first episode, he fell into a coma. While characters being trapped in a coma is often used, it is still a viable theory as when many long-term coma patients wake up, they are still mentally trapped in the age that they were when they went INTO the coma.

Haunter Killed Misty

Another commonly ran theory is that Misty died early on in the series, as she was licked by Haunter. In checking the Pokémon Go Pokédex, it states straight up that Haunter will try to lick you with its tongue and “steal your life away”. Considering that the pre-evolution to Haunter is Gastly, who is a literal ball of gas, it wouldn’t be a surprise if its tongue IS deadly.

If a Haunter’s lick is supposed to shudder its victim to death, and Misty only shuddered a little bit then there are a lot of theories that can cross over; one of them BEING the theory that Ash is in a coma. Another would be that Misty either DID die and Ash couldn’t accept it, or she was just a figment of his imagination anyways and Haunter was trying to prove that to him. If we also go based off of yesterday’s theory that they are living in a post-war world, there is also a possibility that some people may have built up immunities to certain things such as the gas that comes from a Gastly/Haunter.

While Misty DID eventually leave the show, there could be a couple explanations. One is that she had been dying slowly and so she left before she completely died; and if we follow the train of thought for why she was still around then it could also be that Ash grew up mentally enough and she disappeared from his imagination.

Evidence for Restraining Order on Brock

Brock was well known for having a crush on and flirty with EVERY Jenny and Joy in the series. However, it’s a bit obvious that he treats each Jenny a bit differently. There is a reason for it: despite looking identical, Brock can tell every single Jenny apart.

While not noticed as kids, as adults many have come to realize that even WE can tell the Jennys apart if we look close enough. Like all Police Officers, each Jenny has her own jurisdiction and there is a symbol on her uniform that will tell you which jurisdiction is hers; unlike Joy who looks identical even down to her uniform.

Brock treats them differently because he knows every symbol and which jurisdiction is which. There’s a theory that runs that if anyone ever filed a restraining order against Brock for all of his... Overly adorations, that this would actually be a solid piece of evidence against him. It would be one thing if you can’t tell them all apart like with Joy, but if he’s aware of the symbols and treats them each in their own way, it’s a pretty good indication that he knows they are all different.
